Watermelon and Fruit Prints
📍Granada Terrace, St. Pete
With summer, in Florida at least, just around the corner, I’m already prepping for even warmer weather and cheerful prints! Is there anything more perfect for the summertime than watermelon? Seasonally, it’s always a go-to snack and a must-have at any cookout or summer celebration. Now that’s beginning to translate to my closet. When I first saw this darling sundress from J. Crew Factory, I instantly knew it was a winner. The print is cheerful and feels reminiscent of previous Kate Spade. This dress is also incredibly versatile, while it’s a classic for a beach day, I can’t wait to wear it with sneakers and a jean jacket for running errands. It’s a piece that’s made for casual and carefree days, whatever that means to you. As you’re shopping, you’ll be tickled watermelon pink at the whole rainbow of options when it comes to fruity prints and motifs. Here’s a roundup of some of how to add more fruit to your wardrobe.
Just Go For It
The days are getting warmer and longer, why not just go for that full fruit print! As I said, for me, that means this fun sundress from J. Crew Factory. I also think it’s incredibly important to mention that this little number has pockets. What more do I need to say? As you shop your favorite stores, chances are that they’ll have some fruit prints in the mix. Consider it like wearing some Vitamin C for the soul. Find a favorite or mix it up like an old-school fruit cocktail.
All in the Details
The easiest way to try a new trend or style is by adding a few baubles to an otherwise uniform outfit. On a day-to-day basis, I live in white jeans and a striped t-shirt. Whether that sounds like your usual look or not, consider adding a pair of fruity earrings or a necklace to the mix. This necklace from J. Crew is perfect! Not only is it a gorgeous accent piece, but the bright colors will also work with a multitude of outfits and styles. I wish that I saw this particular piece sooner!
For Men As Well
Don’t leave the men in your life in the dark. They can absolutely join the fun with some tasteful and classic fruit prints. If they’re not ready to go full print, it can start with something more subtle like a pair of dress socks or a tie. For the bold, have them shop for a fully printed short-sleeve button-down. David has both options in his wardrobe and I love it when he wears either option. You know your significant other’s style and comfort zone best!
Bright Colors Instead
Signing yourself up to wear a full fruit print can be all tall order. While it’s fun and whimsical, you may look at it as borderline childish. Instead, consider wearing cheerful brights or pastels that still send the same message. The most obvious choice is a bubblegum pink, like this eyelet blouse. Finding a soft shagreen, vibrant orange, or anything in between. That way, you are in full control of how it’s styled, but I highly recommend adding just a dash of print.
As I write this, I’m getting flashbacks to this previous post while living on the Upper East Side. I wanted to celebrate the highly anticipated Camp Exhibit at the MET in NYC and a watermelon midi-skirt seemed like a great option. It is probably my favorite art exhibit of all time. Whether for the workplace or a casual day, wearing fruit prints should be fun and easy. Please dress accordingly!
