Thankful for in 2019

As I write this, I’m currently in New Orleans to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. Oh yeah, I know that I have so much to be thankful for this year, like I do every year. It’s important to count your blessings each day and I try really hard to practice what I preach. There’s just something about Thanksgiving that makes me feel even more thankful. I surrounded by my loved ones, dining of the best foods imaginable, and the holiday season is just beginning. Even though this blog mainly revolves around my style and travel, I want to take a moment to let you know what I’m thankful for in 2019.
My Family
Since David and I flew half way across the country to spend time with them, it only makes sense for my family to be on the top of my list. To say my parents are generous is an understatement. Everything they do is for my brother, David, and I. Our trip to New Orleans is the prime example of that. My mom kindly helps take care of the arrangements. Especially since moving so far from my family, I understand the importance of coming together for the holidays more than ever.
My Husband
David deserves a spot all on his own. He is much happier being behind the scenes, but without him, so much wouldn’t be possible. Everyday I’m reminded what a great team we are together. His strengths perfectly balance my weaknesses. He’s also one of my loudest supporters. Last year, when I was unhappy with work, he gave me the green light to take a break and try a new venture. Of course, compromises are made along the way, but together I know we can weather any storm. We’re well into our second year of marriage. I can’t wait to see what the rest of our years have in store.
Living in NYC
My experience in the city has been a dream come true. At least once a day, I catch myself feeling so thankful for being able to call New York City home. Ironically, it was never my goal to live here, but now I feel so certain that it was all meant to be. I know my time as a New Yorker won’t be forever, I’m not a “lifer” as I’ve heard others say. In the end, that’s what makes this time so special. With an endless list on my to-do list and not enough time, it reminds me to say yes to every opportunity I can.
Blogging Opportunities
When I started this little blog, originally called The Coastal Stylist, I had no idea what kind of goals to set for myself. I was just trucking along, trying to be authentically me, and have a fun, creative outlet along the way. Not even three years later and I’ve had the kind of opportunities that I could only have dreamt about. In 2019 I’ve worked several times with one of my dream brands, Talbots. I also created a great relationship with the amazing team at AAA Northeast during a road trip to Newport, RI. This blog has also helped me meet personal heroes, like the extremely talented Tracey Minkin from Coastal Living, and make new friends. In a space that can so competitive, and sometimes shallow, it’s nice to know that there is still substance behind what I do.
I know 2019 isn’t quite over yet, but my heart is positively full from it. As a final note, thank you so much to you, my readers, for supporting my blog in your own way. Whether you read daily, or this is your visit, I’m so thankful for you and happy that you stopped by. Let me know what you’re thankful for in 2019. I would love to know!
Love from New Orleans,
Katie
