St. Pete Date Night

David and I have the luxury of being able to have a little date night at least once a week. While we were in New York, we had an unlimited number of possibilities, but we typically stayed in the Upper East Side. Last year, I even shared my version of the perfect UES date night. Now that we’re back in St. Pete, we have fewer options, but a night out can still be very special. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, here’s what an ideal date night in the Sunshine City would look like.
Gussy Up at Sip and Dry
It always feels nice to have your hair and makeup done for you, especially before a date night. Recently, I’ve added a blow out from new local spot, Sip and Dry, and it’s the best decision I’ve made for myself. Each person who works there does a fantastic job! I leave with a fresh style (that lasts me all weekend) and a wave of confidence. While you’re there, you can also opt to get your makeup done too. Click here to schedule your own appointment.
Happy Hour at Annata
It’s no secret that one of my favorite happy hours destinations in all of downtown St. Pete is Annata. I think it’s one of the best deals in town! They have select glasses of wine and beer for a whopping $3 each. If you need a little snack before dinner, I cannot recommend their charcuterie boards enough! Seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried the truffle cheese with honey.
Dinner For Two at Brick and Mortar
After happy hour, it’s time to get some dinner. While there are plenty of great restaurants in the downtown area, Brick and Mortar would be perfect for date night! The location is small and dark, making for a very intimate meal. Their menu is has a wade variety of offerings, leaning more towards Italian and American cuisine. I promise, everything on their menu will be absolutely delicious!
Dessert at Paciugo Gelato
After dinner, if you’re not too full, walk back down to Beach Drive for some well deserved dessert. Since there’s always a slight buzz to this part of town, it just feels like it’s the place to be. Swing by Paciguo Gelato for a delicious treat. Ever since our honeymoon in Italy, I’ve had a constant craving for this Italian dessert. Paciugo is just as good as anything I had in Rome or Lake Como. With ice cream in hand, wander through Straub Park or sit on a Beach Drive bench to watch the world pass by.
Live Music at Ruby’s Elixir
There’s just one more stop on my St. Pete date night tour. With late hours, many a fun night ends at Ruby’s Elixir. There’s live music nearly every night and they have a full cocktail list, I particularly love the Ruby Spritz. Have a final night cap, take in the music, and dance the night away, if the moment strikes you.
After every night we spend downtown, we always end with a walk back to our little Old Northeast apartment. In the late hours, the neighborhood is quiet and it feels like we have the whole world to ourselves.
I hope this gives you ample inspiration for your next date night. Even if you don’t live in St. Pete, I’m sure you have your own local destinations that fit the bill.
