I’m just over the moon that summer is officially/unofficially here. I would definitely call it my favorite season. There’s something about the hot weather and long days that I find so refreshing. There are more adventure opportunities, and I explore it all in flowing sundresses. When I’m on a summertime trip, I’m in my element. The fact that I’m on maternity leave from my 9-5 job until the end of July helps make this the best summer ever! Here’s a quick look at what’s happening and coming my way this summer.Â
Baby’s First Trip to NYC
David and I are itching to get Brennan to New York for her visit as a city girl. The Upper East Side will always feel like home to us. So, the day must include coffee from one of our favorite spots, a trip to the MET, and shopping down Madison Avenue. If Brennan is really good, maybe we can sneak into Bemelmans for an early afternoon cocktail. The JFK Daiquiri is my favorite cocktail, and it’s been 9-plus months since I’ve had a sip. I think I deserve a little treat!Â
Long Weekend in Newport
Since our little family has a lot of travel already slated for the Fall, we’re taking a practice run of staying at hotels. With that in mind, we have our eyes set on a long weekend in Newport and staying at Hammetts Hotel. Apart from being my favorite New England destination, I also love how walkable it is. Will that translate to exploring with a little one in a stroller? Only time will tell!
Visiting Family in Vermont
One of the things we’re most looking forward to this summer is introducing Brennan to her great-grandma. David has always been incredibly close with his grandma, and we’re so excited to have that continue for a second generation. For the Fourth of July holiday, we’ll be taking our longest road trip as a family of three to drive to Northern Vermont. We also hope to squeeze in an overnight trip to Woodstock to explore even more of the Green Mountain State with Brennan.
Summer Escape: TBA
With my parents all the way down in Florida, getting our little one together with her Nana and Poppi takes a little extra planning. We talked about a family rendezvous in New Orleans so Brennan can eat at her namesake restaurant, but she needs to be a little older for the Crescent City. Instead, I’m leaning toward visiting beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. Can you believe I’ve never been there before? Better late than never, especially when I can wander among the pastel facades with our sweet baby girl.Â
Love from Connecticut,
Katie
