Blazer || Cami || Jeans || Heels || Earrings || Bag
There were so many drool-worthy trends that came out of New York Fashion Week, but I have one in particular that stands out as the front runner to add to my wardrobe. Tweed and boucle suit sets were one of the styles to see in the street and I’m 100% ready to jump on the train. It’s a classic look from the yesteryears and makes me think of Chanel at it’s very beginning.
Here’s the question, though. How do you take the tweed suit set and it translate it for the everyday? While I feel in love with this blazer and skirt set from ASOS, it’s not something I would wear while running errands around town or at work. My first thought was to ditch the skirt. I know this sounds like the exact opposite thing you would want to do with a suit ‘set’, but trust me on this one. By leaving the skirt at home, you are giving the blazer it’s time to shine. Plus the piece becomes much more versatile.
Because my blazer is such a statement, I decided to keep the rest of my pieces dark and monochromatic. The navy details in the jacket made this cami and dark bootcut jeans from J. Crew the perfect compliment. Because I wanted to stay true to the ladylike inspiration behind this set, I paired my navy Ferragamo heels. Maybe it’s because I look like I’m pairing designer on designer, but I felt ridiculously chic.
As for the skirt? Save it for a fun night out with your girls so it can have it’s own moment. Tuck in that same navy (or red, if you feel) J. Crew cami from before and make it a little edgier with these navy pointed toe pumps from Sam Edelman. There’s so much bang for your buck when you separate the two pieces. The possibilities are endless!
Honestly, this is probably my favorite look in a long while. I feel equal parts Coco Chanel and Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam. What I love about it is that it takes the styles from two of my fashion idols and brings it down to something that I would feel comfortable wearing everyday. I’m so excited to rock this on date night, at work, or whatever else calls for a statement blazer.
Love from NYC,
