Into the Roaring 20’s

The 2010s are beginning to wind down and into the Roaring 20’s is just a few short days away! Even saying that out loud sounds so unreal. A decade that has been romanticized and cherished is back for a second round. I’m taking that as an opportunity for a fantastic New Years Eve theme. Particularly, I’ve been eyeing fun cocktail dresses with flapper influences to bridge the 100 year gap.
The Dress
Of course, it’s all going to come down to the dress and I simply loved this sequined frock from H&M. At under $35, it’s nice to know that you don’t have to break the bank for a festive New Years Eve look. Even after the clock strikes midnight, I can keep this in my closet for date night or the next holiday season. Sadly, this particular dress is sold out, but this pick from Nordstrom is the same style and a comparable price point.
Period Accessories
The element that really makes this dress flapper friendly comes down to the accessories. A long pearl necklace, skillfully wrapped around twice, was a common style during the golden age of speakeasies and the Charleston. I happened to already have similar style necklace in my rotation, a little gift from my grandma. I couldn’t find the exact style, but any sort of costume jewelry will go for the night. The best strategy is starting your search at local party stores. My 20’s era headband came straight from Amazon Prime and was at my door step in just a matter of days. No matter the dress that you land on, you can find a headband that will match perfectly.
The Handbag
The rest of my ensemble is straight from the 21st century. This circle handbag from Neely and Chloe, while more 60’s mod than 20’s flapper, has been my go to for the holiday season. It seriously seems to work with every outfit I throw together and holds all of my daily must haves.
The Heels
For heels that will last the entire night with you? It’s all about Sarah Flint’s Perfect Pump. It’s not a misnomer. These heels truly are perfect! Coming in three different heights, your feet will be happy no matter your comfort level. If you want to see what all of the fuss is about, hop to their website and get $50 off your first pair using the code BAKATIE50.
Although our plans for NYEW aren’t fully set in stone, I know it’s going to be a night to remember in St. Pete. A little bit of family time, a little bit of dancing, and a whole lot of celebrating are just what the doctored ordered! Cheers to the new year and the Roaring 20’s.
Love from NYC,
Katie
