Greetings from Boston friends! After a few weeks away from blogging, I’ve decided to come back with a bang to recap my most recent trip to Boston for an unforgettable Independence Day. Although the weather was less than ideal, think near constant rain, it was still a wonderful introduction to this deeply historic city. The Revolutionary buff in me was absolutely dizzy with so much to explore and I’ve only scratched the surface.

With its central location and stylish rooms, it serves as the perfect base for exploring the city’s rich history and contemporary delights. From the moment you step inside, the Revolution Hotel transports you to a world where comfort and creativity seamlessly intertwine.

Explore the Boston Public Library
A visit to the Boston Public Library is a journey into a world of architectural beauty and cultural significance. The grandeur of its Beaux-Arts architecture and the rich history within its walls make it a must-visit destination. Explore the majestic Bates Hall, admire the breathtaking murals, and lose yourself in the vast collection of books. Whether you’re seeking a quiet spot to read or marveling at the grandeur of the building, the Boston Public Library is a haven for knowledge and inspiration.
Breakfast at Contessa
Start your day with a delightful breakfast at Contessa, a rooftop restaurant overlooking Boston Public Gardens, located at the Newbury Hotel. The aroma of enticing breakfast options awaken your senses. Indulge in delectable pastries, mouthwatering avocado toast, or a classic bacon and egg sandwich. I absolutely loved the Frittata Verde. Not to mention the decor in the space is absolutely stunning. I don’t know what I loved more, the cuisine or the interior design.
View Revolutionary Portraits at the MFA
Immerse yourself in the world of art at the renowned Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. From ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, the museum’s extensive collection spans centuries and cultures. Stroll through the galleries, it could take all day, admiring iconic works. I particularly loved the Arts of the Americas gallery, which included portraits of Revolutionary heroes. Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or simply appreciate beauty, the Museum of Fine Arts offers a captivating experience that leaves a lasting impression.
JFK Daiquiris at Kennedy’s Favorite Restaurant
Raise a glass to history with a refreshing JFK Daiquiri, one of my absolute favorite cocktails, at the iconic Union Oyster House. This historic restaurant, serving patrons since 1826, offers a unique atmosphere where tradition and presidential charm blend seamlessly. Sip on the classic cocktail, honoring one of Boston’s most beloved figures, and savor the flavors while relishing the ambiance of this timeless establishment.
Sail in Boston Harbor with the USS Constitution
Set sail on the Liberty Fleet and let the winds guide you through the picturesque Boston Harbor. Experience the thrill of hoisting the sails and feeling the power of the sea. As you navigate the sparkling waters, soak in panoramic views of the city’s skyline and iconic landmarks. This seafaring adventure offers a unique perspective of Boston’s maritime history and provides an unforgettable opportunity to embrace the beauty of the harbor.

With its coastal-chic ambiance and an exquisite menu of fresh seafood, this restaurant offers a true taste of New England. From the succulent oysters to the mouthwatering lobster rolls, each bite is a delightful celebration of the sea. To really treat yourself to an unforgettable lunch, I say order their Lobster and Waffles. David and I shared because very decadent, but absolutely heavenly!

Late Night Cannolis from Bova’s
No visit to Boston is complete without savoring the sweet delight of a cannoli from the North End. While there is some contention on which one is “the best” Bova’s Bakery is a beloved North End institution, serving up mouthwatering pastries for generations. Sink your teeth into the crispy shell, filled with creamy ricotta and chocolate chips. The heavenly combination of flavors will transport you to dessert paradise, leaving you with memories that linger long after the last bite.
It’s hard to believe it was my very first trip here, but it certainly won’t be the last. Since it’s just a quick 3-hour drive away from our corner of Connecticut, I’m already brainstorming a return trip in the not-so-distant future. Let me know, is there anything I missed and need to tackle next time?
Love from Boston,
Katie
