As I write this, there are only two months left in my pregnancy. Seriously, where has the time gone? With that time left, Iāve been thinking back on some of the unknowns and insecurities I had before this wild journey began. Admittedly, one of the biggest things on my mind was how and when my body would grow and change. Iāve had longstanding insecurities about parts of my body since high school, and I was worried that those would be exacerbated, especially in this final trimester.
Iām happy to share that the opposite effect has happened. Iāve always felt like my stomach was a problem area for me. With my growing belly, I was able to let go of insecurities, and to truly appreciate the experience. Baby Girl Kennedy grows bigger and a little bit more wiggly with each passing day. Something that has been helpful is how I cleaned up my diet, starting with the first positive pregnancy test. Iāve become very mindful of what I need to fuel my body and made sure that every meal has been well-rounded. Not having food cravings has been helpful, but if I wanted a sweet treat Iāve allowed myself to indulge in moderation.
All of this is to say how much Iāve enjoyed finding my maternity style. By biddingĀ adieuĀ to body insecurities and welcoming a growing bump, Iāve been loving getting dressed each morning. My pre-pregnancy jeans have been shelved for the time being, but Iāve found a lot of success in simply sizing up an additional size in some of my favorite styles. This little strategy gives me peace of mind that Iāll have a lot of options this summer, when Iām in the fourth trimester. The end result is being able to capitalize on the classic French style that Iāve long loved.
The moral of this story is to not let small insecurities get in the way of your personal style. If I’ve been able to conquer during this time of change, I’m sure you can confident that you can too.
Love from Connecticut,
Katie
