I am so happy to finally share some of the pictures from our wedding day. Cathy Durig, our photographer, is just so talented! I’m going to have some fun sharing our wedding day details with you.
Let’s start with the dress! Dresses with a lot of poof and frill have never really spoken to me. I also wasn’t look for something too tight or form-fitting. My mom gave the input that whatever I wore had to have some kind of strap. After shopping around, I came across the winner at David’s Bridal. The details on the bodice and slight cap sleeve were so flattering, but I secretly loved the fact that it was from the clearance section. My parents had given me a very generous dress budget, but I didn’t want to go overboard. Instead, I was able to splurge on this pair of Loeffler Randall heels that I knew I would be able to wear more than once.
The most important detail of my dress was the belting I was able to add. My Grandma Brennan and I were incredibly close. In fact, I wanted to honor her by getting married on her birthday. Unfortunately, her own wedding dress, with its beautiful lace detail and bateau neckline, did not stand the test of time or Florida humidity. The only salvageable piece was the beading that went around the waist and neckline. It had almost an ivy quality to the pattern and I knew I wanted to incorporate it somehow. The ladies at the David’s Bridal alterations team were to able to make it the belt on my own dress and could not have done a better job! I’ll always have it to treasure.
Now, let’s talk about David. How handsome does he look in his royal blue suit?! His groomsmen didn’t look half bad either. Our wedding colors were navy and emerald green, but the pop of lighter blue was the perfect statement. The local plant life added as the backdrop to tie in the little hints of green accents.
As I wrote this, I realized that I wanted to use the word ‘perfect’ to describe each and every aspect of our day. The stress that over a year of planning brought instantly melted away when the big day finally arrived and there’s not one piece I would change. So many pieces contributed to this day going so smoothly and I will try and share everything for all of my brides-to-be out there: our reception details, my girls and I getting ready, why we decided to have a Catholic wedding… If you have any questions about anything (and there’s no detail too small), be sure to ask!
Love from NYC,
Katie
