Dressing for an Endless Summer
Dress (also) (also) || Wedges || Handbag || Earrings
This time of year is always so strange as a Florida based style blogger. Everywhere I look, stores are starting to unveil their fall collections with so many sweaters, boots, and layering pieces. Cut to the Sunshine State, and we’re still having triple-digit days with unrelenting humidity. With this sticky hot weather, it’s hard to envision pumpkin spice and apple picking. In fact, sometimes we don’t even feel slightly cooler weather until November or December. Dressing for an endless summer has become a survival skill!
Others have really stepped up to the task. Because they know their audience, some other Southern bloggers are already starting to talk about fall fashion. Kate, from Lonestar Southern, lives in Gainesville and has been doing an incredible job! I honestly tip my hat to her and often look to her for so much fashion inspiration. As for me, the thought of putting on anything more than a sundress and sandals right now makes me want to cry!
Don’t think I’m complaining too much! I get how great Floridians have it in the wintertime. This weather also gives me a great excuse to invest in more florals and linen, breezy brands. Some recent favorites have been Roller Rabbit (originally posted here) and SZ Block (originally posted here). There is one more, similar, brand that I’ve been lusting over all summer. Banjanan has been on my radar for a while, but I didn’t have any real excuse to invest in such a gorgeous piece. While it’s 2020, and I still don’t, I just couldn’t wait any longer to have this beautiful floral dress in my life. With a dress this gorgeous, honestly, who needs fall?
Sometimes the siren call to experience the different seasons is too much! If you’re a Floridian, the best opportunity to get in a fall wardrobe (apart from sweating it out) is to travel Northward. One of the many perks of marrying a Vermonter is the endless reasons to visit his home state. If we’re able to make a trip to see the fall foliage this year, you can expect me to really dress for the occasion there.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll start dipping my toe into the art of transitioning to fall fashion and style. After all, I’m only human and some new arrivals are just too good to pass up on. I’ve seen so many otherwise summery pieces reimagined with fall colors and motifs. It makes me feel like there’s hope for us in the Sunshine State. If you’re a fellow Floridian, and want more warm weathers looks, be sure to let me know! Until then, I’ll keep dressing for our endless summer!
Love from Florida,
Katie
