Ready for Summer Travel

In Monday’s post, here, I mentioned some of the trips that are starting to take shape for the summer. I’m so excited to experience my first summer in NYC, but it’s also my favorite season to travel. I already have new destinations coming up in the next few months and a few that deserved a repeat visit. As I look back on my ‘2019 Travel Goals’ post, I instantly noticed that none of these trips were included in my original thoughts for the year. It’s amazing how quickly an idea for a trip can take hold and be fully planned out. Here’s a quick look into where I’ll be heading as soon as the final school bell rings, in no particular order.
- Martha’s Vineyard: When exactly am I heading here? I’m not quite sure, but there have been multiple opportunities to pop up. Growing up in Florida, almost all of New England is new to me and I can’t wait to start exploring. Sinking my feet into sandy beaches and admiring the island’s charm sounds like the perfect way to spend a long weekend. I’ve also never been to Nantucket or Cape Cod, and if the chance comes up to go, I’ll take it in a heart beat.
- Back to Florida: Obviously, I can’t go a whole summer break without going home to visit my family. Even though the season is unbearably hot to some, I think the summer is a great time to visit the Sunshine State. During this time, tourists generally stay away and it seems like the Gulf Coast beaches are a lot quieter. The only other people to brave the heat are locals. Whether it’s back to St. Pete, revisiting Palm Beach, or going somewhere new, my home state is always calling my name.
- Paris: What sounds like a romantic vacation for David and I is actually a girl’s trip with one of my dearest friends. She has been to Paris many times and will be perfect to lead me around this new-to-me city. After finding dreamy pictures from Mackenzie Horan and Jackie Greaney, we are staying at the Grands Boulevards Hotel. It seems like a good central location and is a quick walk from all of the sites I want to tackle. I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures and notes for all of my dear readers.
- Bordeaux: It’s a good thing I’ve been brushing up on my French! After Paris, I’m following my wine-loving heart to the city of Bordeaux and wine country. From what I’ve gathered, this is a foodie paradise with drinks to match! Our home base will be in the city, but I am just dying to take a day trip to Saint Emillion. Some of their vineyards have been around since the Middle Ages and they are credited with inventing the macarons. Count me in!
There are still some trips in the planning phases. After a few discussions, David and I have recently decided a return trip to Stockholm is definitely necessary. We first spent 48 hours in the Swedish capital, but it just wasn’t enough! We love the culture and speed of the city, but can’t wait to explore the nearby archipelago for some much needed relaxation. I just discovered the Hotel J and fell in love with what I saw! David and I can’t wait to book our stay ASAP.
I will be celebrating summer a little early and am jetting off to one of these places for a long weekend. I’ll have to dash to the airport right after school and wanted to style an outfit that was still comfy for a long flight. These linen pants from LOFT are a great compromise. They are as comfy as can be, but still look incredibly put together. This crisp, white blazer from J. Crew completes the work friendly outfit. I’ve never been more excited for a travel outfit!
Love from NYC,
