Well, hello there! It’s been a while. With so much going on in my personal life, it’s tough to sit down and take the time to blog. I still love it and have a packed content calendar for the rest of the year, but I’m trying to give myself grace for not sticking with it. Honestly, I just want to make it to 2023, and then I’ll be ready to start with a new wave of inspiration. Anyways, it’s always easiest for me to write about travel, and I had the pleasure of taking a long weekend in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. It was celebrated a belated birthday/girl’s trip with my mom. It was just so lovely to get away and change scenery. Here’s a quick little Las Vegas recap to save for any upcoming trips to ‘Sin City.’
Where to Stay
When playing a trip to Las Vegas, the hardest decision may be picking a hotel. There a countless to choose from. There is an entire range of price points, and each pick has its unique style, theme, or aesthetic. A fun piece of visiting the city is hopping from hotel to hotel and exploring the restaurants, shows, and casinos. Here’s a list of my personal favorites that I’m sure you’ll love.
- Bellagio: The Bellagio was our home during our Las Vegas visit. It’s hard to think of a present-day hotel that is more iconic than the Bellagio. The fountain alone is enough to deserve a visit. Located in the middle of the Strip, aka Las Vegas Boulevard, you truly feel like you’re in the middle of all the action.
- Wynn: We were able to visit for lunch, but I was mostly inspired by Melissa Smrekar’s recent-is trip to Las Vegas in June. This hotel is positively stunning. It just seemed to be at a completely different level! I liked that it was at the northern end of the Strip and felt quieter. Admittedly, I wonder if that’s true during peak season. Still, this will be my first pick if more trips to Las Vegas pop up.
- Four Seasons: I stayed at the Four Seasons with a friend a few years ago, and I still have daydreams about their pool area. Although connected with Mandalay Bay, this seems like a different world compared to the rest of buzzing Las Vegas. The quiet pools and serene decor makes it more like a spa retreat than a Sin City destination.
Where to Eat
Honestly, I’m not really into gambling… And I have little interest in magicians or Cirque du Soleil. It may sound like I’m a bit of a bore, but I found my Las Vegas solace with the incredible dining. I’ve been to this city three times, and I promise you I’ve eaten well on each visit. Here are the most recent highlights. Come hungry!
- LAGO: Located at the Bellagio, LAGO was our first meal in Las Vegas. Wow! Did it deliver! We had the fortune of having a table on their patio, with front-row seats to the Bellagio fountain. About every 15 minutes, the show would begin, and it was mesmerizing! Just as important, the food was impeccable. I highly recommend the Lemon Tagliolini.
- Sadelle’s: I fell in love with the original Sadelle’s location in NYC. So, I just had to visit the Las Vegas location. Better still, it was also located at our hotel. I saw a sneak peek of the beautiful decor from Mary & Crew, but it’s even prettier in person. They ship the water to make their bagels from New York, so you know it’s going to be good.
- Wazuzu: I was craving Asian cuisine and read so many great things about Wazuzu, located at the Wynn. Everything on their menu sounded absolutely mouth-watering. The Drunken Noodles, in particular, caught my eye and is one of the most loved dishes in all of Las Vegas. It really hit the spot, somehow tasting even better a few hours later when I snacked on my leftovers.
What to Do
Although there is an endless list of entertainment options in Las Vegas, I only had one on my mind. The Bellagio Pool was calling my name, and I answered the call. On the last full day of our trip, we had tickets to see Elton John on his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tour. The show was incredible, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t cry a few times during the show. To get ready for a fun evening of singing and dancing, I grabbed an early seat poolside and was ready to relax the day away. I had a new book in one hand and a fruity cocktail in the other. This is what vacation is all about! As you plan for your trip to Las Vegas, in between all the restaurant and show reservations, remember to pencil in some time for R&R.
Cheers to another great trip to Las Vegas. Even if you’re feeling skeptical about visiting, there’s so much I recommend. It’s so easy to attach a particular rep to a city, especially when revelry is involved. This city is truly what you make of it. Whether you love shopping, dining, relaxing, and, yes, gambling or partying, there is something for everyone. Let yourself have a good time because life is simply too short.
Love from Las Vegas,
Katie
