We celebrated Brennan’s very first birthday this past weekend with a cozy, joy-filled gathering at Rowayton Seafood. Although it was a cloudy day for our waterfront lunch, and nothing could dull our little celebration. There were strawberry treats, fresh seafood, and the most perfect view of the water. Brennan wore the sweetest embroidered onesie, a last minute find from Carter’s, with a strawberry headband. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the look on her face when we sang “Happy Birthday”—equal parts awe and delight.

This first year has been nothing short of transformative. Brennan arrived in our lives like a burst of light, and every day since has been brighter because of her. Watching her grow from a tiny newborn into the bubbly, determined, and endlessly curious little girl she is today has been the honor of a lifetime. Her giggles, her gentle spirit, and even her strong opinions (especially about bedtime) have brought a deeper kind of joy than I ever knew possible. She has taught me patience, presence, and how to slow down and savor the smallest things—like the way her little fingers curl around mine or how she lights up when she sees us first thing in the morning.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate Brennan’s first trip around the sun. Seeing her surrounded by so much love—from dear friends to doting grandparents—was the perfect reminder of how supported we’ve felt through this first year of parenthood. It truly takes a village, and I’m endlessly thankful for ours. Brennan Ann, you are our brightest light and biggest blessing. Happy berry first birthday, sweet girl.
