A New Look for the Blog
📍 Florida
Orange to Apple has a brand new look!
I don’t think I’m a very rash person, but I know what I like. After years of a nautical-esque navy, green, and red color scheme for the blog, I just needed something new. What started as me playing around on Canva, turned into a whole brand new look for the blog. That means a new logo, a new color palette, and new branding. The end result is something that I think is much more reflective of my current style and life in Florida. Read on to learn about what sparked this change, why I made it, and what inspires me.

The Before
When Orange to Apple was first beginning, I was a newlywed Floridian living in NYC. A darker color scheme was a perfect fit for my life in Manhattan. Navy compromised about 90% of my wardrobe, so I obviously wore it often. Looking back, one pivotal moment was seeing the CAMP exhibit at the MET. The fashion was unashamedly full of pastels and bright colors that I missed having in my wardrobe. When we decided to move back to Florida in November 2019, I instantly saw a shift in my wardrobe. When it’s 70 degrees and sunny in the dead of winter, I have an excuse to wear my brightest color year round again.
The Inspiration
I’m still an avid blog reader. Each morning starts with checking my favorites to see if there’s anything new! There’s not enough time to list everyone, but I wanted to take a moment to highlight the women who may have sparked the inspiration for my new blog look.
- Caroline from LCB Style: I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Caroline on my most recent trip to Palm Beach. Her blog also had a little revamp last year and it was probably my biggest source of inspiration.
- Ashley from Ashley Brooke Designs: Another Floridian, Ashley has impeccable taste. Everything, from her recipes, her style, and her kitchen demo seems effortless.
- Julia from Julia Berolzheimer (formerly Gal Meets Glam): What can I saw about Julia that hasn’t already been said? The woman is an icon and I’ve loved following her brand as it develops over the years.
- Beth and Danielle from Palm Beach Lately: Clearly, I have a soft spot for Palm Beach! This sister duo makes blogging look so fun! While I always love their travels, I’ve loved reading about their collaboration with Serena and Lilly at the Colony Hotel.

My Style
You never expect your sense of style to make a sharp turn, but mine had a slopping curve. I wanted to dress for where I lived. Typically, Florida helps create visions of tropical flowers, crystal clear blue skies, and warm sunny days. As I travel around the sunshine state, so did my new pastel inspired wardrobe. You never know when and where inspiration will find you.
My Travels
Afternoons at the Vinoy Hotel, road trips to the Gasparilla Inn, long weekends at Palm Beach, these are some of my favorite moments since moving back to Florida. I still daydream about our trip to Bermuda and hope to visit Harbour Island as soon as possible. While I don’t travel strictly based on decor, it’s clear to see I have a running theme. If you have any other bright and cheerful travel suggestions, please let me know!
The Process
Working from home gives me ample time to work on the blog. I’m easily able to take pictures before and after my 9 to 5. I also began to notice patterns in not only what I was posting, but what I was happiest with and what was most popular. Obviously, the number of likes isn’t everything, but it’s an interesting metric to look at. Pinks, sea greens, and pale blues seemed to do the trick. From there, I began looking through Pantone to find a color combination that made me happiest. The hex codes #fcc0cb and #abddd8 have already been committed to memory! I found the perfect font and my new citrus logo was created via Canva. Even though my New York days are behind me, I still love the name of the blog, so Orange to Apple is here to stay!
What’s Next
As my blog continues to grow, so will my branding. I also have a mind to sprinkle this as we begin to redecorate our home. Later on in the year, I have some fun projects that are starting to take shape and my newfound inspiration will guide me. Until then, be on the lookout for more pastels, tropical inspiration, and Florida adventures. Also, feel free to shop around my color palette with some of my favorite recent finds.
Love from Florida,
Katie
