Cheers to Number 28

Birthdays can sometimes be a little overwhelming. It’s another trip around the sun, another year older, and there are some hangups that come with that. I like to greet each birthday head on, but also stay thankful for what the previous year has given me. Last year, year 27, was an absolute doozy and filled with huge life changes. In a span of 12 months I got married, received my Master’s degree, and began a new life in New York with a new job. Now that I’m 28, I started to wonder if there’s anyway that this year can top the last. I think, the answer is YES!
While this year doesn’t have such huge milestone and life events lined up, I’m so excited for the smaller things that will come my way. David and I are approaching our first wedding anniversary and navigating through married life is always an ongoing endeavor. We’ve talked about a timeline for starting a family in the future. Although we know we’re not quite ready for it yet, sorry mom and dad, we are going to take the time to hopefully travel both domestically and abroad.
Maybe it’s the eternal optimist in me, but I truly believe that this year is going to be a huge turning point. Many new opportunities, in different facets of my life, are starting to line up and I feel like I’ve been working overtime to reach my goals. It’s scary. Actually, it’s absolutely terrifying, but I am so thankful for the constant support from my husband, parents, and close friends. There’s a cliche that goes something like, “do something that scares you once a day”. Friends, I feel like I am living that mantra. I’ve never been a stranger to putting myself out there, but now it seems I’ve become close friends with that mindset. I hate to cloak everything in mystery, but will unveil all when it is appropriate.
Will an older, wiser Katie stop wearing navy? Absolutely not! Somethings about me probably will never change and this is one of them. On a much lighter note, I had an amazingly low-key birthday. Donning this navy jumpsuit from Nordstrom, we ate at an Italian restaurant in the UES. Our meal at Grazie was simply delicious and we wondered why it took so long to get there.
Love from NYC,
Katie
