With moving to the fashion capital of the world, I’ve felt compelled to majorly step up my daily style game. Yes, even as a teacher. My school in Florida was very casual. I mean, Florida in general isn’t known for being extremely formal. I could have gotten away with wearing jeans every day if I really wanted to.
Jump to my new school, where casual Fridays are no longer a thing. I’ve been finding that I don’t really miss them all that much. I take it as one extra opportunity per week of trying on a fun style and experiment with different workwear.
Last Friday, I pushed the rules a little bit by wearing a chambray shirt instead of jeans. Since it’s from Vineyard Vines, I figured I could get away with it. These chinos from J. Crew were one of my favorites from past teaching years and I’m still rocking them. They are by far the comfiest pants I own and I love the slight flare at the cropped hem. David joked that I looked very western in this getup, but jokes on him because we all know how trendy cowboy inspired pieces are right now.
I’m also loving my recent Vineyard Vines purchase, a Florida State belt to sport some school spirit. It’s a subtle touch that completely brings together a Friday outfit. The unfortunate part is that every time I wear the belt, FSU gets killed. I’m going to give it one more game before I hang up the belt until football season is over. I’m not ready to be a basketball school yet.
Anyways, since I’ve been feeling workwear inspiration with living in NYC, I’m going to try and share my daily looks. Once a week (or so), I’ll round out what this Florida girl wears to work in the big city. It also helps that I finally have a full length mirror to be proud of! Taking selfies has never been my strength and the lighting is a work in progress, but that’s what photo editing is for.
Love from NYC,
Katie
