David and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Brennan Ann Kennedy! Born on Monday, April 15th at 10:12 pm, she came into the world weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. Brennanâs early arrival at 37 weeks was unexpected, it was a whirlwind 48 hours, but we are grateful that she arrived healthy and strong.
One of the most common questions I’ve heard is, “Where does her name come from?” While Brennan is more often a name for little boys, I’ve long loved it for a sweet baby girl. Brennan holds a special significance in our hearts as it honors my maternal grandparents through my mother’s maiden name. Ann, a cherished name shared across generations on both sides of our family, pays tribute to my paternal grandmother. Naming our daughter after such beloved family members fills us with immense joy and nostalgia.
Brennanâs early arrival was prompted by my Cholestasis diagnosis, a condition that affects my liver during the third trimester. To prioritize both my health and Brennanâs well-being, my doctor recommended inducing labor at 37 weeks. While unexpected, we trusted the decision and are grateful for the attentive care we received throughout the process. Fast forward two weeks, and Brennan is doing great! Each day feels like an adventure with her as we attempt to see the world through her eyes. Weâve had the support of both sets of grandparents, which has been beyond helpful. She also has a new, loyal companion with our 12-year-old Basset Hound, Tripp. When it comes to Brennan, he is curious and protective. What a wonderful big brother!Â
As we embrace the whirlwind of parenthood, my blog posts will momentarily slow down to allow us to savor these precious early moments with Brennan. I sincerely appreciate your understanding and support as we adjust to our new life as a family of three. Stay tuned for forthcoming posts detailing Brennanâs birth story, updates on our hospital bag essentials, and insights into navigating the âfourth trimesterâ together. Thank you for sharing in our joy during this special time.
Love from Connecticut,
Katie
