2021 Resort Shopping Guide

This is a sequel to one of my favorite blog posts from last year, a 2020 Resort Shopping Guide. Living in Florida, we’re pretty fortunate to have vacation like weather for the majority of the year. It’s what brings visitors from the northern states in the “harsh” winter months. Visiting the Gasparilla Inn over the weekend seemed like the perfect opportunity to round up my favorite Resort Trends for the year 2021. Happy shopping!
Bright Floral Maxis
Clearly, I’ve become extremely partial to floral dresses. Slowly, they are taking over my entire closet. What kind of floral print or color is completely up to whatever personality you’re feeling for the day. Roller Rabbit always has some of the most gorgeous florals. The rich and vibrant color of this maxi dress added something new and unexpected to my closet. If you’re not much of a maxi dress girl, they also offer the same gorgeous pattern in a boho-style mini dress.
Straw Bags in Classic Silhouettes
I have a serious love for straw-inspired bags. They instantly add a tropical element to any outfit I throw together. Pamela Munson brings that to the next level by reimagining handbags in classic silhouettes. Structured totes and ladylike handbags are only the beginning of her gorgeous Spring collection. The scallop details on this particular bag are too good to pass up.
Raffia Earrings That Make a Statement
Raffia earrings are here to stay! I loved them last year and I still love them today. The biggest difference in 365 days is the size. Raffia earrings are bigger, brighter, and bolder than their 2020 counterpart. Because the material is so naturally light, you can truly make a huge statement without sacrificing your ears. These earrings from Tuckernuck combine two of my favorite things, raffia, and palms!
Natural Inspired Sandals
Staying with natural accessories, I finally took the plunge and splurged on a pair of Carrie Forbes sandals. I have been admiring them for so long! As I think towards the summer, they will be perfect for 90% of what’s in my closet. I’m going to dress them up and down, no matter the occasion. I suggest sizing up if you’re in-between sizes.
Comfy Linen Shorts
Move over chino shorts, there’s a new favorite in town! I wish I could have the entire rainbow of these J. Crew seaside shorts. The linen is so incredibly soft and the drawstring makes them feel instantly laidback. I’ll be half-tucking a Grayson button-down for an effortless Spring and Summer uniform.
Retro Inspired Swim Suits
Modest swimsuits making a comeback has been an absolute miracle! Never again will I struggle with anything near a string bikini. Instead, I happily gravitate towards high-waisted two-pieces and slimming one-pieces. J. Crew is always my first destination when shopping for swimwear. Their newest arrivals are in the prettiest shades of pastel. My current favorite is this bandeau one-piece in pink gingham, with a matching coverup.
Fluffy and Personalized Beach Towel
When you pop over to the beach, either for the day or afternoon, it’s always good to have the perfect beach towel on hand. Weezie is my favorite name in towels, both for the beach and beach. Pick your favorite color combo and have it embroidered for an extra special touch. Isn’t the pink just dreamy?
Vacation Inspired Non-Fiction
I love reading a riveting non-fiction. I’m a lifelong learner and sometimes a book full of new information is what I’m looking for over fiction. Whether you’re traveling to a fun destination or spending time at a local park, grab a book that is resort inspired. My favorite “beach” read is Bubble in the Sun by Christopher Knowlton.
As the weather begins to warm up, and travel restrictions begin to loosen, treat yourself to filling your closet with new vacation-ready pieces. Find the joy in shopping for new destinations. Happy travels!
