Dressing for Formal Thanksgiving
Dress (also) || Heels ($45 off with KATIE45) || Handbag || Earrings
What you wear for the Thanksgiving holiday is just as unique as your family traditions. From laidback to formal and everything in between, all is welcome for Thanksgiving. Normally, my family has a pretty casual affair. We’re Floridians and the weather typically just calls for t-shirts and shorts. This year, the whole family is traveling for Thanksgiving. Instead of heading home to my parents, we’re all meeting in New Orleans for a fall vacation. Even better, my best friend is meeting us with her mom. It’s going to be such a special holiday!
The reservations at one of the most iconic restaurants in the city have been set and I want to make sure I dress the part. New Orleans is a typically a pretty relaxed city, but they know how to really celebrate holidays. You’ll also find some absolutely impeccable southern style. I don’t know how to fully describe it, but the street fashion is truly unique. There’s a whole spectrum of style, ranging from the eclectic artists to the polished city socialites. There’s inspiration everywhere in-between.
This gorgeous dress from the Gal Meets Glam collection would be right at home in the Crescent City. Although you tend to think of the partiers on Bourbon Street, there’s still a lot of modesty in New Orleans. This is particularly true with the southern mansions in the Garden District. I swear, the burgundy color is even prettier in person. Our Thanksgiving will be at a traditional creole style restaurant, and the classic silhouette of this dress truly fits the bill.
This dress originally debuted as my Marvelous Mrs. Maisel costume, but I obviously couldn’t wait to wear it again. Even though it’s a vintage, almost 60’s housewife style, it looks great in the 21st century. I simply love the bow details on the sleeve for a playful, feminine touch. It also comes in this gorgeous shade of blue that I think will work with any skin tone.
When it comes to holidays and occasions, Gal Meets Glam has become my number one destination. With modest styles and flattering silhouettes, there’s a little something for everyone. To see all of my favorite picks for a formal Thanksgiving, be sure to shop below!
