During our recent trip out east, we spent a full afternoon in Amagansett. I’m dubbing it my favorite of the small towns in the Hamptons. It’s quieter than East Hampton but still packed with great shops, scenic spots, and places to eat. We kept our visit simple and relaxed: good coffee, a little shopping, and a laid-back lunch with a view. If you’re heading to the Hamptons anytime soon, I’d highly recommend carving out a few hours here.

Coffee at Amber Waves Farm

We started the morning with an iced coffee from Amber Waves Farms, which is part café, part farm stand, and part community space. They serve really good coffee (and Arnold Palmers), and the setting is charming without trying too hard. There’s usually a small crowd, especially in summer, but it never feels hectic. We grabbed our drinks and took a quick walk through the garden area before heading into town.

Shopping in Town

The shopping in Amagansett is well-curated without feeling overwhelming. A few favorites from this visit: Suzie Kondi for cozy-chic loungewear and elevated basics; Clare V. for accessories with personality (I loved their summer handbags); and Jenni Kayne, which always nails that effortless California-meets-East-Coast vibe. It’s a small cluster of stores, but each one is worth popping into. I walked home with a pair of green loafers from Sabah. They were so comfortable that I wore them right out of the store.

Lunch from The Wine Stand at Wölffer Estate

We made our way to the Wine Stand at Wölffer Estate for a casual outdoor lunch. It’s technically in Sagaponack, but not far from Amagansett, and well worth the detour on our drive home. You can order from the food truck, sip a chilled rosé, and sit at one of the picnic tables overlooking the vineyard. It’s low-key and relaxed, and great for kids too if you’re traveling with little ones.

Amagansett is easy to explore in just a few hours, but it also has a pace that makes you want to linger. If you’re building out a Hamptons itinerary, it’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon—especially if you want a break from the more crowded towns. Grab coffee, do a little shopping, and take your time with lunch. It’s summer at its best.

Love from the Hamptons,
Katie

What to Pack for the Hamptons

What to Pack for the Hamptons

Shirt || Sweater || Pants || Sandals || Handbag || Earrings

A weekend in the Hamptons calls for a wardrobe that balances comfort, polish, and just a little bit of coastal flair. The weather can shift from breezy mornings to warm afternoons and cool nights, so it’s all about thoughtful layering and effortless pieces that work in a variety of settings. I like to keep things light and neutral, with a few subtle stripes or textures to make even simple outfits feel styled. Think: versatile staples that go from coffee runs to dinner reservations without needing a full outfit change.

Breezy Shirts

Button-downs and sleeveless blouses are ideal for layering and staying cool during the day. I like cotton poplin or linen tops that can be worn loose during the afternoon or tucked in with a belt for dinner. A classic chambray shirt or striped top adds subtle detail without being too busy.

Linen Pants

A pair of linen pants is the first thing I pack. They’re lightweight, breathable, and easy to dress up or down. Whether you’re heading into town or lounging around the house with coffee, linen pants offer the perfect base. Stick to neutral shades like white, beige, or soft blue so they mix and match easily with whatever else you’ve packed.

Lightweight Sweaters

It may be summer, but don’t forget a sweater. A striped knit or neutral pullover is perfect for tossing over your shoulders during the day or slipping on once the sun goes down. I usually keep one in my tote, especially for post-beach dinners or cooler mornings with a breeze off the water.

A Day-to-Night Dress

Even if you don’t have formal plans, it’s smart to bring one versatile dress. I lean toward cotton or linen fabrics in neutral tones—something that pairs well with sandals and can be layered with a sweater if the temperature drops. It’s the easiest way to look put-together with almost no effort.

Comfortable Sandals

A good pair of sandals can make or break your weekend. I like to bring a pair of leather slides or raffia sandals that are stylish but won’t hurt my feet after walking around all day. Flat, comfortable options are key—especially if you’re planning to explore the local towns or markets.

Structured Beach Bag

Your tote does a lot of work over a long weekend. I look for one that’s roomy enough for a towel, book, and sunscreen, but still polished enough to carry into town. A woven or canvas style usually fits the bill. I prefer something with pockets to stay organized throughout the day.

A Woven Hat

A straw hat is both functional and chic, all while fitting into a Nancy Meyers aesthetic. I pack one that can fold or roll without losing its shape, so it’s easy to bring along for beach days or afternoon strolls. It’s one of those items that always gets more wear than I expect.

Essential Beauty Items

There’s no need to overpack your beauty routine. I stick to the basics: a good SPF, tinted moisturizer, lip balm, and bronzer. I usually throw in a silk scrunchie or claw clip since my hair tends to end up off my face by mid-afternoon. Keep it easy and low-maintenance.

Simple Jewelry

When you’re packing light, minimal accessories make a big difference. I usually stick to pearl earrings, a chain necklace, and a watch or cuff bracelet. They add just enough polish to a daytime outfit and transition easily into evening.

Packing for the Hamptons doesn’t need to be complicated. A few high-quality basics, a neutral palette, and lightweight layers go a long way. The goal is to feel relaxed but put together—ready for whatever the weekend brings, whether it’s coffee and shopping, lounging by the water, or dining al fresco under the stars.

Katie

What I Read in April and May

What I Read in April and May

Since April really got away from me, I didn’t get nearly as much reading done as I wanted to. Only two books, which wasn’t enough for a full blog post. So I’ve decided to combine my reading list for April and May. Although I still love diving into compelling non-fiction and stories of women, I sense my taste shifting to beach rides now that we’re unofficially/officially in the summer season. If you’re looking to add something new to your reading list, here’s what I read in April and May.

andVersion 1.0.0

Pirate Women

Pirate Women is a non-fiction read dives deep into the hidden history of female pirates across centuries and seas. From ancient queens to swashbuckling rebels, each chapter explores a new woman who defied expectations and fought for power in a man’s world. The tone is accessible and informative, with enough vivid storytelling to keep the pages turning. It’s not a lighthearted romp, but it is fascinating—perfect if you’re in the mood for something that blends history, feminism, and adventure.

The Nine

The Nine was easily one of the most powerful books I’ve read in a long time. It follows nine women—Resistance fighters during World War II—who formed an unbreakable bond while enduring unimaginable hardship. It’s not an easy read, but it’s a necessary one. Their courage, sacrifice, and loyalty left me in awe. I found myself needing to pause and reflect often, and I carried their stories with me long after I turned the final page. If you’re looking for something profoundly moving, especially about the strength of female friendship under pressure, I can’t recommend this enough.

Vanderbilt

This family biography reads like a saga—one that blends old money, ambition, tragedy, and excess. Vanderbilt traces the rise and fall of the Vanderbilt dynasty, revealing both the glamour and the grief behind their name. I especially appreciated how the narrative balanced historical context with more personal reflection. It was fascinating to learn how a single family helped shape America’s identity, but also how quickly legacy can unravel. While it’s filled with the trappings of Gilded Age wealth, there’s a melancholy thread that makes it more than just a tale of opulence.

Such Good Friends

Such Good Friends reimagines the complicated friendship between Truman Capote and Lee Radziwill, pulling back the curtain on their glittering social world. Set against the backdrop of high society and old-money Manhattan, it captures both the intimacy and tension of a relationship built on mutual admiration—and quiet betrayal. The writing feels cinematic, with sharp dialogue and cameos from a who’s who of 1960s and ’70s culture.

Jaws

As one of my all-time favorite movies, I wanted to go back to the original novel ahead of this summer’s 50th anniversary. Jaws is darker and grittier than the film, with more time spent on the town’s politics and interpersonal tension. That said, the suspense still holds up beautifully—and the beach scenes are just as chilling. It was fascinating to spot the differences between the book and the film adaptation, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves classic thrillers or is looking for a summer read with bite (pun intended).

The Lost of Summers of Newport

Set in one of my favorite coastal destinations, The Lost Summers of Newport weaves together three timelines and a cast of women tied to a crumbling Newport mansion. The rotating perspectives kept things engaging, and I loved the mix of mystery, family drama, and architectural nostalgia. It’s a perfect beach read if you enjoy stories that stretch across generations with a touch of scandal and secrets. There’s a little bit of everything: romance, history, and a setting so vivid you can practically hear the waves hitting the shore.

Now that we’re in June, I have a new list of books on the horizon. Currently, I’m reading All the Summers in Between, which takes place in the Hamptons during the summer of 1967. I deeply enjoyed Brooke Lea Foster’s other two novels, Summer Darlings and On Gin Lane, and this book is no exception! In July,PThe her next novel Our Last Vineyard Summer releases and I’m already excited to add that to my book list. Maybe it will even be included in next month’s round up.  Until then, keep me on track, and I’ll share all the great books in next month’s review. Happy reading!

Katie
